I would argue that there are few things better than leveraging our love for craft beer to give back to the community. And there are many that feel the same way; including Deschutes Brewery. During the past two years, they raised over $840,000 for charities through an event called Deschutes Brewery Street Pub.
More about the event specifics later but what is most important is that this event is geared towards bringing people together while giving back to local charities. That is the kind of commitment that I love to see in a brewery.
What Is Deschutes Brewery Street Pub?
Deschutes Brewery Street Pub is an outdoor craft beer event like nothing you’ve ever experienced. They set up a 400-foot-long outdoor pub where over 50 beers will be served. In addition, there will be culinary demos featuring food made with beer, local music and many other experiences unique to this event. And this is designed to be family-friendly so there is a kids zone.

The Purpose Of This Event
I know that most of us will attend because we love our cities and craft beer. But there is more to these events than that. At the core, Deschutes Brewery is bringing people together and supporting local charities.
The tag line for this event is “Crafted For Community”. Craft beer is more than just beer; it’s a community. And Deschutes Brewery knows the community is much larger than just the area near their brewery; it is everywhere their beer is sold. That is why this is a traveling event; they want to be a part of the communities that are drinking their beer. This event shows that collectively we can have a huge impact in our local area and across the nation.
To give back to each community, Deschutes Brewery is working with at least one local non-profit in each city. These charitable organizations will be the benefactors of the proceeds from the event. This kind of fundraising is critical to their success. Each city will have different benefactors; more details about the Cincinnati event below.
Cincinnati Event Details
Being from Cincinnati, I am thrilled that we are the first city on the 2017 schedule. It will take place from 2pm – 10pm on Saturday June 24th at The Banks along 2nd Street. This is one of the best areas in the city for an outdoor event so I am expecting a huge crowd.
Admission: Free – Beer Tokens are $5. You can even purchase tokens in advance here.
Proceeds will benefit:
- Starfire Council – Connecting the community with people who have disabilities
- The Schuber-Martin IBD Center at Cincinnati Children’s – Caring for patients with Crohn’s Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
Beer: Of course you can expect a full line up of craft beer from Descshutes Brewery but they will also have some taps from Moerlein Lager House and Blake’s Hard Cider.
Food: Deschutes Brewery’s Corporate Executive Chef, Jeff Usinowicz, is teaming up with Cincinnati’s own Chef Joe Lanni, co-founder of the Thunderdome Group and Chef Jared Bennett of Metropole
Local Bands/Music: The Buzzard Kings, HEBDO, CLUBHOUSE, & Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas
VIP Street Pub Experience: There’s also a VIP pass available. It includes two beer tokens, rare barrel tastings, exclusive seating, and swag from Deschutes Brewery and the other sponsors. All that for only $50 per person.
And don’t forget, this is a family-friendly event including a kids zone so bring the entire family out and enjoy our beautiful city while giving back.
