Canned Craft Beers Perfect For Camping

5 Canned Craft Beers Perfect For Camping

Last week, I spent some time at an Ohio State Park with my family. We aren’t the camping type so we enjoy the great outdoors by staying in a cabin. While there, I thought about how craft beer is so much easier to bring on camping trips now because of the popularity of canning. This led me to create a list of canned craft beers perfect for camping.

Why Is Canned Beer Better For Camping?

Lightweight – Makes transporting easy

Easy Clean Up – Crush the can and take the trash with you

Eco-Friendly – Since they are easier to clean up, we are more likely to take them home and recycle

Less Risk – Glass bottles can break and cause a dangerous situation; this is not an issue with canned beer

All Day IPA

ABV: 4.7%    IBU: 42

Description

Satisfies your tastes while keeping your senses sharp. Brewed with a complex array of ingredients. Balanced for optimal aromatics and a clean finish.

I will admit that I rarely reach for a session beer. I would rather have one big beer than a handful of low ABV beers. That’s were All Day IPA is different; I am more than happy to grab this beer and enjoy a few on a hot day.

What’s even better is that it comes in a wide variety of packaging. Specifically, you can get 12oz cans in a 15 pack or pick up a few 19.2oz cans. It’s a low cost craft beer that will hit the spot when enjoying the outdoors.

Pale Ale

Brewery: Sierra Nevada – Chico, CA

ABV: 5.6%    IBU: 38

Description

Our most popular beer, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a delightful interpretation of a classic style. It has a deep amber color and an exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor.

I always look for Sierra Nevada Pale Ale when I am at a restaurant or venue with limited beer choices. It’s a beer that has been around for a long time and helped drive the early craft beer movement.

For that reason alone, this canned craft beer should be on everyone’s list of beers to drink on a regular basis – including camping or any other outdoor activity. It is refreshing and light without sacrificing flavor.

Blood Orange Gose

Brewery: Anderson Valley – Boonville, CA

ABV: 4.2%    IBU: N/A

Description

Our Blood Orange Gose is a tart, refreshing wheat ale that is kettle-soured with lactobacillus and brewed with sea salt and coriander. However, unlike traditional versions of the style, ours features liberal additions of blood oranges during fermentation. This imparts tangy citrus notes that complement the champagne-like flavors, creating a complex and sessionable ale perfect for any occasion.

I’m a huge gose fan. This style of craft beer is just tart enough to keep me interested while also being refreshing. This specific gose has a nice citrus flavor from the blood orange that adds to the flavor and it’s drink-ability.

So if you are looking for something on the tart side, grab a six pack of this before heading out.

Traditional Lager

Brewery: Yuengling Brewery – Pottsville, PA

An iconic American Lager famous for its rich amber color and medium bodied flavor with roasted caramel malt for a subtle sweetness and a combination of cluster and cascade hops, this true original delivers a well balanced taste with very distinct character.

Sometimes you just want a beer that you can drink and not think too hard about it. This is that beer for me. Yuengling Traditional Lager is affordable and comes in a variety of different packaging and quantities. It is a light bodied beer so you won’t feel weighed down if you have a few.

In my area and most of the Eastern USA, this is as easy to find as Budweiser and it tastes much better. So if you want to get a low cost, full flavored beer then this has to be on your list.

Coconut Hiwa Porter

Brewery: Maui Brewing – Kihei, HI

ABV: 6%    IBU: 30

Description

A robust dark ale with hand-toasted coconut and hints of mocha.

In most cases, I would argue that a pale ale, lager or IPA would be best to drink when outdoors. But those styles aren’t for everyone so I had to find a way to get a dark beer on this list.

This one won’t disappoint; it has a medium body and a good amount of coconut flavor in it. I drink dark beer year round and think this one would pair perfectly when sitting by a campfire enjoying smores.
